Abstract Background and Aim: Several studies have shown a reduction in enamel bond strength when the bonding procedure is carried out immediately after vital bleaching with peroxides. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of antioxidant agents (sodium ascorbate, sodium sulfite) and delayed bonding on shear bond strength of composite resin to enamel after bleaching with two different concentrations of carbamide peroxide. Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro study, 100 human premolars were collected and randomly divided into 10 groups. The investigation was conducted in two parts according to bleaching agent and elapsed time after bonding. In part I, bleaching was with 35% carbamide peroxide (Opalescense Quick) for 30 minutes was performed. In part II, bleaching was performed with 15% carbamide peroxide (Opalescense Regular) for 6 days and 6 hours for each case. The teeth in both parts were divided in 5 groups: 1: No Bleaching-Bonding (control) 2: Bleaching-Bonding 3: Bleaching-Sodium ascorbate-Bonding 4: Bleaching-Sodium sulfite-Bonding 5: Bleaching- Saliva immersed (for 3 weeks)-Bonding After bonding and thermocycling (1000 cycles between 5-55◦C) and 7 days of storage, shear bond strength was measured in all specimens. Groups differences were analyzed by using Kolmogrove Smirnov, one way NOVA and Sheffe tests. Results: Statistical analysis indicated that treatment with antioxidant agents after bleaching with carbamide peroxide can cause such a compromised bonding comparable to the control group (p>0.05). Conclusion: Antioxidant treatment can severely decrease the bonding strength. Effect of Antioxidant Agents on Bond Strength of Composite to Bleached Enamel with 38% Hydrogen Peroxide
This study evaluated the effect of antioxidant agents on microtensile bond strengths (μTBS) of composite to bleached enamel. Fifteen freshly extracted human third molars were selected and randomly assigned to 6 groups (n = 5): (NB) enamel not bleached, (B) bleached enamel, (BR7) bleached enamel and restored 7 days later, (BSA) bleached enamel+sodium ascorbate, (BMC) bleached enamel+malvidin chl...

AIM The goal of this study was to fnd a method to eliminate bond strength reduction after vital bleaching. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty fat surfaces of enamel central human incisors were prepared by diamond disks. In the frst group, the samples immediately bonded to the tooth after bleaching. For the second group, the bleached samples were treated by sodium ascorbate for 1 hours. In the third ...

full textIn-Vitro Evaluation of the Effect of Herbal Antioxidants on Shear Bond Strength of Composite Resin to Bleached Enamel
OBJECTIVES A reduction in bond strength of composite to bleached enamel has been reported immediately after bleaching treatment. Application of some antioxidant agents may decrease the adverse effects of whitening agents on bond strength and enhance composite bond to enamel. This study aimed to assess the effect of green tea, sodium ascorbate, sage and grape seed extract on bond strength of com...

BACKGROUND Tooth restoration immediately after bleaching is challenging due to the potential problems in achieving adequate bond strength. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of surface treatment with ER:YAG, ND:YAG, CO2 lasers and 10% sodium ascorbate solution on immediate microtensile bond strength of composite resin to recently bleached enamel. MATERIALS & METHODS ...
